Peter Tatchell arrested in Moscow for being noisily gay prior to the camp Eurovision won by a hetero folk balladeer. But wait. Look carefully at the word on the breast labels of the burly Moscow police and what do you read? "HOMO" in reverse. What's that all about? (My thanks to the keen-eyed Arcatiste who brought this to my attention)
That Peter Tachtell is pretty good at photo opportunities. Maybe they are taking him off for a bit of male bonding.
ReplyDeleteSam Leith calls for a peerage for Peter Tatchell in today's Evening Standard - well done, Sam. And well done, Peter.
ReplyDeleteI add my name to the nomination for Peter Tatchell.
ReplyDeleteAnd Tim Oakes to the House of Lords too please. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSam Leith has improved with miraculous speed in one week. I read his Tatchell piece and was surprised by its intelligence. I've always tended to assume that a newspaper column is granted as a reward for stupidity, but in this instance Geordie Greig appears to have opted for clarity of mind as a virtue. Even I am astonished.
ReplyDeleteI take some credit for this development and I thank my followers for their prayers (to guide Sam). How old is he? He looks about 14 in the pic byline.
Yes, Madame - Mr Leith has grown enormously under your tutelage.
ReplyDeleteHow enormously must remain a secret.
ReplyDeleteArcati has become troublingly benign on Leith and Evening Standard. Have you read the new film critic? Total shite.

ReplyDeleteI have not read Andrew O'Hagan's film criticism. I should say Derek Malcolm is still the ES film reviewer - he's focusing on arthouse now, and got a £5000 pay rise for his troubles. Not bad for a 77 year old.
ReplyDeleteArthouse is the only cinema worth reviewing.
ReplyDeleteBring back Neil Norman, I say! What's happened to Neil anyway?

ReplyDeleteOh no ducks, Neil was full of himself. He made the mistake of one year putting me on the wrong table at the old Evening Standard Film Awards. He never looked forward after that.
ReplyDeletePoor Neil - he was always late for everything and even failed to turn up for interviews, much to the film publicists' displeasure. And he did so WANT that film column on the ES too. The last I heard, he was writing spec screenplays to be produced by his resting actress girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteOh well, let's say a prayer for the cock-cunter.
ReplyDeleteGood old Neil! He once took me to an Evening Standard Film Awards do. And he bravely stuck up for me when the late Nigel Dempster (bless him!) attacked me (verbally)! I think he mistook me for Bubbles.
ReplyDeleteGood heavens, you were surely not that, er, round.
ReplyDeleteNah!
ReplyDeleteFrom Moscow to Bubbles! What a relief.
