Daily Mail's Mac and the curious case of the gay swastika

"Isn’t that romantic, George, dear? Mr and Mr Smith would like the bridal suite"

The Daily Mail's cartoonist Mac turns his attention to the story of the Christian hoteliers fined for discriminating against a gay couple refused a bed because of some nonsense in their Bible. It may be my eyes but is that a swastika on the right forearm of the man on the left? Since the actual gay pair were not Nazi clones it's hard to see the relevance unless of course Mac is trying to make a point about the nature of anti-discrimination laws. What's missing from the cartoon is a pink triangle. But then Mac doesn't do colour.

Click the pic once for a larger version - the swastika is plain to see.

I took a magnifying glass to the (unfunny) cartoon and I cannot see a swstika, just a squiggle. I thought over the ramifications of that ruling, actually I am puzzled. It said on the website No Unmarried Couples (incl straights). My last girlfriend and I looked like a middle aged couple so would Mr & Mrs Xian Guesthouse "take us on our word" or demand to see our "marriage cert"?
Finally this may return to attack the gay community - if I book into a place and the owners mutter "Bloody Yid/Darkie/Poof" I would not feel welcome. I certainly would not part with money to be glared at. Did that couple target the guesthouse?

Take another look at the enlarged version, it's quite plain, to me at least.

Why doesn't Mac do something brave - like a cartoon of the Prophet Mahommed?

The swastika is obvious

I see the swastika, a disgrace. It's obvious what Mac is saying - and how ironic!

Bitchola is a fine old Slovakian name. Yes I do now see a hakenkreutz.

This is consistent with the Mail's editorial on the case. For today's sermon, the Mail suddenly cares about Chrostian virtues and the rights of Christians, as if it were a Christian newspaper when in fact it's a stinking pot of prejudice that has as much to do with Christianity as National Socialism.
