Allison Pearson: The conversation before the defection

I understand the conversation that prompted Allison Pearson's defection from the Mail to the Telegraph (because of  "depression") went like this.

She is ushered into Paul Dacre's office...

Pearson: “The Telegraph want me and they are offering more money ” –
Dacre: “OK, then, you must go”...
Pearson “?!”

The Tele offered MORE money than the £350k or whatever she was on at the Mail? Cripes. She'll be doing a lot of interviews on top of her column, then. Sounds like a very stressful and high-profile role for someone suffering as dear Allison is...

Ithinkshe may have been on something around £250k at the Mail.
