ITV buys The Next Uri Geller for 2010
There's The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. But why not a talent show to find the next paranormalist spoon bender? Oh, hello Uri Geller, how are you? "I'm flying out to Greece tomorrow morning to film ... The Next Uri Geller," he tells me. "It's being shown on ITV next year." Spoons at the ready.

Although I'm a Geller fan, he was once hired by a mining company to fly all over New Guinea to spot likely rich mineral deposits. The firm went bust 5 years later.
Why hasn't Uri entered the world of 'reality' TV where everyone can be a star ?
I used to think he was world's biggest charlatan and I still have my reservations.
At lunch once, soon after Jill Dando's murder, he told us he knew she was killed by a Serbian hitman. It may of course turn out to be true, but 10 years on and we're still waiting.
He also refused to do spoon tricks for about half a second then relented and called for spoons to be brought out from the kitchen and proceeded to do his stuff, to delight of the rest of the restaurant patrons. That was quite impressive close up. That part I believe.
Then he read our minds and it was time to go.
I called him a couple of days later and he was at Glastonbury for the NME doing an anti-rain thing. Needless to say, it pissed down that year.
I do object to his Michael Jackson bandwagon jumping, but that's the only reason anyone comes calling these days, so I don't blame him for milking it.
Good story.
