Johann Hari - his website's back! Funny that.

I am delighted to see that Johann Hari's website is back up* after my post yesterday. It's not for me to speculate but I guess he realised that one can read his stuff in the Indy's archive; and then there are the versions in cache. One way or the other Google proves there is indeed life after death.

*However, the links on the site are dead. My thanks to an Arcatiste for pointing this out.

"Back" is relative. Have you tried navigating around the site? All the links are dead and any search box results in "502 bad gateway".

You're right! What's going on? I hope Madame Arcati is not about to lose her temper.

It doesn't appear to be back up at all. Are you sure you didn't just have the front page cached?

Wait, hang on, apologies, now it is back for me... just slow to load. But only the front page. This is very odd.

Well, the address I'm clicking is http://www.johannhari.com/ - a cached version would have a half-milke string of url, wouldn't it? Even so, it's all very odd and I'm inclined to think Hari is finished at the Indy. If he's reading this perhaps he'd like to clarify.

a 'half-mile' I mean...

Hari's crap can be read on the Indy site. And there are plenty of sites that make the right attributions for his pieces. Also, see the new Private Eye which explains how he ripped off a Der Spiegel article (the story is actually a rip-off of someone else's work incidentally), and how he made up quotes for another story. The man is a disgrace. I'm starting to wonder about his double first from Cambridger.
