Bridget Rowe, Libertas UK and a plan to rule Europe?

The monstrous Bridget Rowe - former bullying editor of Labour-supporting organs the Sunday Mirror and The People (and various mags before these) - appears to be the "leader" of new political party Libertas UK, registered on December 19th. The party's address is given as 400 Main Road, Westerham Hill, in Kent, believed to be Rowe's home. Someone on the British Democracy Forum describes the home as "a pleasant looking bungalow currently for sale at £550,000."

I don't know what Libertas is precisely but EU Reporter claims that Rowe is a close pal of Nigel Farage, leader of the right-wing and Eurosceptic party UKIP. Whether there's a connection between UKIP and Libertas UK is unknown. Is this new party anything to do with Declan Ganley's Euro-critical Libertas EU? Surely Rowe has not defected from UKIP and joined Libertas EU to embrace a more democratic Europe? What could the truth be? I'm sure Bridget will tell us.

"Bridget Rowe, whose Fleet Street reputation does not match her own claim on her page at the Jacque Evans Management Ltd web site, has been a speaker at UKIP rallies. She is known in Brussels as a key UKIP player who is close to Nigel Farage. UKIP officials close to the leadership have described her as ''the replacement national press officer'," claims the EU Reporter.

Doubtless her yesteryear leftish editorials on the two Mirror Group tabloids - when David "Rommel" Montgomery ran the place - will provide an interesting contrast to her current political views if Libertas UK turns out to be a bedfellow of UKIP and not Libertas EU.

And I for one shall be most interested to know of her position on bullying in the workplace, whether she's pro- or anti-EU.

ha ha, how amusing that you trust EU Reporter. Funniest thing I've read in months.

Don't you know who 'edits' it?

Well, Trixy dear, either the story's true or it ain't: perhaps you'll enlighten us all.

I love the Che Guevara beret. You suburban rebels you.

The allegation is that Rowe and Farage have registered Libertas UK with with the Electoral Commission so that Ganley cannot register the name.

Farage is neither pleasant nor principled and it is the kind of schoolboy stunt he would pull.Sounds like they would make a good pair.

Thank you Jenny. Rowe is not talked about publicly in media circles these days, regarded as an embarrassment to an already discredited trade. Stories of editing style are something to savour: on one occasion as editor of The People she was convinced Princess Anne was pregnant, as a result of a dream she had, and splashed on it. In another dream, in the mid-90s, she foresaw the death of Jilly Cooper - still happily with us. On another occasion she ordered a photographer up into a helicopter to take aerial shots of George Cole's country home to record all the extensions - but was dismayed to learn that the pic did not have some visual guide to each extension, like numbers or dates. Perhaps she thought this info would just appear on the negative.

Trixy's gone quiet. And I see one of her anti EU pals used to work for Private Eye. Fancy!

She turned up (like the proverbial bad penny) unannounced at a UKIP London regional committee meeting on Jan 5th 2009, on the grounds that she has promised to help Nigel Farage with press during the forthcoming Euro elections. Several members of the committee objected to her presence and she was asked to leave. Draw your own conclusions!

oh but dont you know she is now 'working' at some ridiculous rag called the EU Referendum Campaign along with another terrible UKIP wannabe-product named James Pryor who before 'masterminding' UKIP's last election campaign had worked turning up terrible election results for parties in Africa? Oh and Jon Gaunt is with them...poor Eurosceptics, they will do the cause much harm...but I see it has done virtually nothing in its past year of existence and has even been supplanted by a seemingly much more credit campaign.....
