Alastair Campbell hits back at Suzanne Moore on blog
Alastair Campbell has responded on his blog to the Suzanne Moore/New Statesman saga I wrote about yesterday. After giggling over the Guardian's correction (that she wasn't on the magazine's staff) he writes: "So she fills a page in The Mail on Sunday, fee doubtless well into four figures, to say she was sacked from a magazine for which she didn't work. Can't wait for the correction in the Mail on Scumday. I'm sure given her self-styled claim to principled journalism, she will want to correct any false impression she and Obergruppenfuhrer Dacre may have allowed to be created. " His blog.

Anne McElvoy in her Notebook column, Evening Standard tonight, lifts Madame Arcati's story without acknowledgement. Time for Brassface McElvoy to be issued with a reminder on good journalistic manners?
Did she? The cheeky cow. I love the way Anne says "'fess up" now and then to appear cool. Her Jade Goody obit on Monday was so gorgeously, extravagantly, patronising that old Geordie must have had a spasm in his panties. If only Jade had had for a privileged family connection to show off, one that Kevin Spacey might have raved over as he did over the Redgraves/Richardsons, she might even have warranted the fp. Ah, well. The Russians will soon see all this nonsense.
Incidentally, Suzanne never said she was in the employs of the NS. She made it clear in her Mail on Sunday piece that her title there was nominal and unpaid: she used the word sacked in the loosest sense. To be listed as a contributing editor is public recognition of a special writer so it's entirely proper that the removal of her name should be treated as some kind of dismissal. The magazine's discourtesy is a disgrace.
Is anyone is the world as obsessed with Paul Dacre as Campbell is? I have met Dacre twice for 2 seconds. I have never spoken to him on phone....I never actually go to work. Campbells delusions spiral into despair. As I was just telling Madame the guy is stuck. He bullied the lobby boys but I aint a lobby boy.....he should just run away.
...let's face the truth Kevin, empathy is not a trait you possess, or you would acknowledge your brother Randy's cards and letters..what a contrast between brothers! It did provide him with much needed press to express his grief publicly though, didn't it?
s!
oh, I can hear the comments now. save them..I could care less. I am about the Forgotten Ones, and I will stand up to hypocrisy...period. I don't dislike Kevin, i dislike the way he treats his own blood...
And fancy Kevin appearing in that American Airlines ad going on about the posh seats - how Alastair Campbell.
what a compliment ! Getting up Campbell's nose !. More power to MA. But what's all this about Kevin Spacey and brother Randy ? . I want to know more.
PS: lunching in Sydney today with a visiting friend from Nassau-she informs me that her cute little Mini Moke used to transport R.Everett to and from Paradise Island's only gay bar, was stolen by her houseboy .
veritas
