Allison Pearson - once wife of Simon? Ooh, spooky!

An Arcatiste writes of my current favourite Glenda Slagg - Allison Pearson - of the ever-readable Daily Mail, and claims that Allison was once indeed a wife.

Intrigued by the results of my séance with Vera, my anonymous contributor conducted his or her own investigation and discovered that one of the few Lobbetts to be married in the 80's/90's was a Judith A Lobbett in Lincoln in 1988. Allison went to school in Lincoln for a time.

Judith A Lobbett was born in 1960, birth registered in Carmarthen in Wales during May-July. Allison was born in that region at that time.

Judith A Lobbett married a Simon W Pearson in 1988. They divorced sometime before the mid-90s. He then married again in 1996. Are Allison Pearson/Judith Lobbett one and the same?

It's hard to know what to believe in these days of reinvention and media masks ...

Darling Ally. I once proposed to her, but she said she didn't love me enough to spend forever with me. Romantic. Then we went to bed.

No! I don't believe for one moment this happened. Perhaps you're just a devil who works at the Mail who's up to mischief. I know your sort.

The most literate of the Glendas? Wow. High praise. She can slag off nineteen-year-olds for being overweight and use words with more than one syllable, then...

one of my friends is the first cousin of Christopher Biggins, that legendary panto dame and star of everyone's favourite show last year, I'M A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE. That's a hard admission (and we applaud your therapist, Mark, for, yes, it is you) but even more extraordinarily Mark is claiming that Biggins's real surname is Lobbett and that Allison Pearson has for years been trying to hide the fact that she is Biggins's younger sister. Can this be true? (He claims she was the only girl he knew as a child who could burp at will). Facially, I suppose, they do indeed look the same but has anyone any more evidence than our mate Mark? I'd love to know

Has anyone heard a more ludicrous claim? I am beginning to think: Leave Allsion Pearson alone! She's got a family to raise after all!

I dunno - Pearson raising a family... Has anyone ever seen her with the kids unless it was a for a photo opp, ideally in aid of selling her book about how hard it is to be with a woman with a job and a nanny who, er, raises the kids?...
